Vila de Frades – Roman Ruins, Talha Wine & Artisanal Crafts

Morning:  Arrival to Vila de Frades visit  the Roman Ruins and Sanctuary of S. Cucufate. Visit the Roman villa from the 1st century AD. Explore the 5 campaigns of fresco painting dating back over 2000 years. Discover Roman Cultural Practices Visit the Interpretive Center of Talha Wine and learn about the artisanal production of Talha Wine, a practice currently a candidate for UNESCO World Heritage status. Wine Tasting at a local winery in Vila de Frades, accompanied by traditional Alentejo snacks.

Afternoon:

Craft Traditions and artisanal Clay Workshop: Visit António Rocha’s workshop to see the traditional practice of working with clay, particularly the creation of Talhas (large clay vessels).Optional Visit to Vidigueira to explore the center of Vidigueira, the traditional bakery, and the Heritage and Tourism Center. Learn about the rural and agricultural history of the area.
